My name is Maria Nikodemou and I come from Cyprus. I finished my undergraduate degree in Mathematics in Cambridge. Numerical Analysis was one of the modules I particularly enjoyed studying. However, coming from a more theoretical background, I was eager to apply my skills and knowledge to a physical problem. Therefore I enrolled to the MPhil in Scientific Computing and am currently part of the continuum stream. The fact that there was no research element in my previous course initially worried me. Nevertheless, the lecture courses and mini projects done in the first half of the year were specifically designed to make the transition smoother. Next year, I very much hope to continue my studies doing a PhD at the same research group.
