Laboratory for Scientific Computing

The Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy invites applications for the Gianna Angelopoulos University Lectureship in Computational Materials Science. This post will focus on atomistic and multi-scale modelling and will complement a separate appointment on continuum multi-physics modelling in the Department of Physics.

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with a track record of excellence on the development of innovative methods for materials modelling that not only enhance existing capabilities, but also offer step-change improvements and radically different solutions. In particular, a demonstrated track record of innovative research and development of techniques applicable to industrially important areas such as materials discovery, digital manufacturing, process modelling and the construction of digital twins would be highly desirable.

Applicants should have a PhD in Materials Science (or a cognate discipline), a strong record of relevant research, and must show evidence of enthusiasm and ability to teach a wide range of core materials science and multiscale materials modelling topics successfully at both undergraduate and master's level. This work will include the delivery of existing courses, and the development of new teaching materials, lecture courses, examinations, laboratory classes and administration.

The deadline date for applications is 31 July 2019.
